Web Port Waivers

GSFC web administrators who wish to maintain an Internet accessible (i.e. "public") web server must specifically request that a TCP port (80, 443, or 8080) be permitted across the CNE firewall to the fixed IP Address of each server. Once a server has been made public in this manner, it is the web server administrator's responsibility to locally restrict that web site, if necessary, from all external GSFC network hosts.

Summary

Instructions

Before consideration will be granted to public web access requests, the following requirements (as of March 14, 2005) must be met:

  1. Agency Web Registration System (AWRS - pronounced "Awares")

    • To ensure that Web sites have been reviewed for content compliance with NASA policy and Federal law, web sites must be registered with AWRS.
  2. Scientific and Technical Information (STI) and/or Export Controlled Information (Allow two weeks for processing of forms)

    • GSFC STI Public Disclosure Export Control Checklist (GSFC 25-49)

This form is required if your site contains Scientific and Technical Information (STI) and/or export controlled information.

Form must be processed and signed by the Export Control Office before submitting the Web Port Waiver Request. Questions regarding this form should be directed to the Export Control Office. Form, instructions, and contact information can be found at the Export Control Web site. Please attach copy of signed and approved form to the WPWR (KEEP ORIGINAL FOR YOUR FILES).
    • NASA Scientific and Technical Document Availability Authorization (DAA)

This form is required If your site contains Scientific and Technical Information (STI).

For all NASA-generated or NASA funded scientific and technical information (STI) that is to be released outside NASA, regardless of whether the STI is to be disseminated in print or electronically (including via web pages), a NASA Scientific and Technical Document Availability Authorization (DAA) (NASA FORM 1676) must be completed.

Form must be processed and signed (through Block IX, DAA Final Approval) before submitting a WPWR. Questions regarding content on this form should be directed to the Export Control Office. Questions regarding processing of this form should be directed to the Publications Office, 301-286-2859. Form (including instructions) can be found at http://nef.nasa.gov/. Enter 1676 in the Quick Form Search block and then select find. Attach copy of signed and approved form to the WPWR (KEEP ORIGINAL FOR YOUR FILES).
  3. Web Port Waiver Request (WPWR) (Allow one week for processing of form)

    • To maintain an Internet accessible (i.e. "public") web site (TCP ports 80, 443, or 8080), a Web Port Waiver Request (ITCD-WPWR) must be completed. If applicable, a signed GSFC STI Public Disclosure Export Control Checklist (GSFC 25-49) and/or a signed NASA Scientific and Technical Document Availability Authorization (DAA) (NASA FORM 1676) must be attached.

For non-standard web ports (i.e. ports other than 80/tcp, 443/tcp, or 8080/tcp), Center CIO approval is required. Attach approved CIO waiver.
